My 2023 Woodworking Projects

Various auto repairs kept me from doing a great deal in my shop this year, but I did post my projects to HayYoo.com. The photo above is a new batch of Christmas ornaments that I had first made in the 1990s. They’re made from 1/8 inch plywood, covered in veneers of maple, walnut, mahogany, and movingui. The other projects include a walnut picture frame, a toy truck, and a box for router bits.

My 2022 Woodworking Projects

Projects include 3 picture frames, several Christmas Bell ornaments, a key ring rack, a glue-up center for keeping all of my wood glue handy, and the 2 birdcage awls shown above. The awls were made from scraps of Bradford pear, oak, purpleheart, as well as copper tubing for the ferrules and nails for the pointy bits. See all of my 2022 projects HERE. You can check out all of my projects at HayYoo.com.

My 2021 Woodworking Projects

large slotted spirtle in Bradford pear wood

2021 was not a very productive year for me. Early in the year, I made a lot of spirtles, and little else. A spirtle is a type of spatula, that is long, slightly curved, and occasionally slotted. Above is an example of a large, slotted spirtle made of some exceptionally colored Bradford pear wood. See my 2021 projects HERE. You can check out all of my projects at HayYoo.com.

My 2020 Woodworking Projects

2020 can’t end soon enough, so I’ve published a slideshow of my 2020 Woodworking Projects a little early. New projects include 3 bandsaw boxes, several turned flowers and pots, a carver’s mallet, and an unusual model of a 3″ socket.
Check out all of them at HayYoo.com.

It’s Been A While

Wow, I haven’t posted here in 6 months. Nothing has been wrong, I simply got bored with blogging, and decided to take a break. I’m still on the break and I don’t know when, or if, I’ll regularly post again.

Just a quick link to my woodworking site HayYoo.com. This week I posted 3 slideshows there, that feature over 30 projects. I finally (I hope!) got the site to work responsively on small screens.

All About Uranium

From Popular Science –

Since the German chemist Martin Heinrich Klaproth identified uranium in 1789, atomic number 92 has become one of the most troubling substances on the planet. It’s naturally radioactive, but its isotope uranium-235 also happens to be fissile, as Nazi nuclear chemists learned in 1938, when they did the impossible and split a uranium nucleus in two.
